What is an Air Fryer?
An air fryer* is essentially a small countertop convection oven that uses hot air as a medium for heat.
The dry circulating heat cooks all surfaces of the food allowing food to keep its crispiness while maintaining flavor.
Why make pizza rolls in an air fryer?
- These frozen pizza rolls can be ready in just minutes in the air fryer! It requires zero prep time. In fact, you can make them directly from the freezer. You don’t even have to thaw them!

Ingredients and Alternatives
Frozen pizza rolls -You can use this recipe to make any brand of pizza rolls that’s available in your grocery store.
I always make Totino’s pizza rolls. I think they taste the best. Plus, these also don’t have any eggs in them and are not made in a facility with eggs. Since I am allergic to eggs, this is a big plus for me. But feel free to get your favorite brand for his recipe.
Dipping Sauce (optional) – You can have the pizza rolls just as it is or dip them in your favorite dipping sauce. See the ” How to Serve” section below for some ideas
How to make the best air fryer pizza rolls
Place the pizza rolls in a single layer in the air fryer basket.
Cook at 380 degrees F for 7 minutes.
When around 3 minutes are left, take the basket out and give it a good shake.
Cook for the remaining 3 minutes or till they are golden brown on the outside.
Once done, the pizza rolls will be crispy on the outside and when are cut open, the cheese is soft and warm on the inside.
Pro tip – Pizza rolls are best made in batches.
Also, my air fryer make and model is probably not the same as the one you have at home, so use my directions below as a general guide but keep an eye on your pizza rolls as they are air frying.
Serving Ideas for air fryer hash browns
Once the air fryer pizza rolls are ready, you can serve them with a variety of options and dipping sauces such as the classic ranch dressing, marinara sauce, or barbecue sauce.
They also go well with chipotle sauce, cheese sauce and garlic dip, or simply serve them as they are.
You can also top this easy snack with some grated parmesan cheese when they are just out of the air fryer oven and are piping hot.
You could also sprinkle bacon bits or chopped pepperoni on top of pizza rolls or even drizzle them with pesto sauce.
If you like to take these pizza rolls to the next level, serve them like nachos by topping them with cheese such as mozzarella cheese, olives, diced avocado, jalapenos, chopped cilantro, and sour cream.
They are also delicious both hot or cold which makes them perfect to toss in the lunch boxes for the kids. For more easy lunch ideas for kids check out 70+ vegan recipes for kids.
Storing and re-heating air fryer pizza rolls
Pizza rolls are best enjoyed immediately. However, if you do have any leftover pizza rolls, they can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator and consumed within three days.
I do not recommend freezing the leftovers. They don’t thaw well once made.
For best results, you can reheat in your air fryer at 380ºF for around 2 minutes or till they have warmed up enough for you.
You can also reheat them in the microwave for 30-60 seconds on high; however, they won’t be as crispy and crunchy.

Commonly Asked questions
Do I need to preheat my air fryer?
Each air fryer runs a bit differently and each model comes with its set of own instructions so it’s best to refer to its manual. I usually do not preheat my air fryer.
Can you cook frozen pizza rolls in the air fryer?
Yes for most brands of frozen pizza rolls, they should be cooked from frozen unless otherwise mentioned in the pack instructions.
How to make pizza rolls extra crispy?
Using this recipe you will get crispy pizza rolls but if you need them to be more crispy, coat the frozen pizza rolls with a thin layer of olive oil before cooking them in the air fryer.
How do you know when pizza rolls are done?
Pizza rolls are done when they are golden brown and crispy on the outside and you get warm melted cheese inside.
Do you have to flip pizza rolls in the air fryer?
You do not need to flip each pizza roll individually. Halfway through the cooking, shake the basket so they cook evenly.
Do I need to spray the basket with oil or use parchment paper?
I did not use a piece of parchment paper to line the air fryer for this recipe. I also would advise against using cooking spray on the basket. Instead, you can use a pastry brush and apply a thin layer of oil directly on the pizza rolls if they tend to stick to your air fryer.
Where do you put the oil in the air fryer?
Oil is not needed for this recipe but if you do want to use it, lightly brush the pizza rolls with oil. Do not add oil directly into the air fryer.
Can you open the air fryer while cooking?
Yes, opening the basket of your air fryer during cooking is completely safe. You can open the basket to examine or shake the contents within the air fryer mid-cooking.
